Special and Incentive (S&I) Pay

Umbrella term for dozens of special pays authorized under 37 U.S.C., including Hardship Duty Pay, Hazardous Duty Incentive Pay, Sea Pay, Flight Pay (ACIP/HDIP), Diving Duty Pay, Language Pay (FLPB), Medical/Dental S&I Pays, and more.

• Eligibility varies by pay; set by DoD Financial Management Regulation (FMR) Volume 7A.

1. 1Qualifying duty assignments generate the pay automatically through your Service's pay system.
2. 2For pays requiring documentation (e.g. FLPB), take the required test and submit forms per Service policy.
